Faith's Law - Employment History Review
Effective July 1, 2023, districts are required to conduct an Employee History Review (EHR) of prior employers to determine if the applicant has been the subject of a sexual misconduct allegation or received any consequence due to the finding of sexual misconduct.
This is a two-part process:
- The employee must first complete the Illinois State Board of Education Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form.
- Initiate the employment history review by providing the contact information for previous employers if selected for a position.
Decatur Public Schools utilizes Bushue Background Screening to submit information for the Employment History Review.
The employment history review must be completed and the applicant cleared before being hired.
Decatur Public Schools Employment History Review contact is Keisha Holliday. Below is the contact information for all EHR requests.

No person shall be denied employment solely because of any disability which is unrelated to the individual’s ability to do the essential functions and duties of the job with or without accommodation. Under state law, a person with a disability condition may not allege a failure to accommodate a disabling condition unless the employer knew or reasonably should have known that an accommodation was needed.
Any person having inquiries concerning Decatur Public Schools' compliance with the regulations implementing Title IX, Title II the ADA, or Section 504 is directed to contact the Human Resources Department Director via email at mwilks@dps61.org.

It is the policy of Decatur Public Schools not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability in its programs or activities.
Decatur Public Schools will take steps to ensure that a person's lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in all educational and vocational programs. The District's Non-Discrimination/Title IX Coordinator or Complaint Manager has been designated to coordinate Title IX and Section 504 compliance.
The District will use the grievance procedures in Board of Education Policy 2:260 (Uniform Grievance Procedure) and Policy 2:265 (Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedure) to process complaints based on alleged violations of law or Board policy.
No student, parent/guardian, employee, or other member of the Decatur Public School community will be subjected to retaliation as prohibited under any law or Board policy, including those laws identified above. Any person who believes any student, employee, or third party or the District generally has engaged in conduct prohibited by the laws cited above or Board policy, including discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, or who has inquiries about the application of the laws cited above or Board policy should contact the District's Non-Discrimination/Title IX Coordinator or Complaint Manager on the districts nondiscrimmination page.
